Pet-friendly accommodation in Airlie Beach

Travelling with your 4-legged companion and looking for pet-friendly accommodation in Airlie Beach? We are here to help!

Airlie Beach is known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. There are a lot of things you can do in Airlie and it’s the perfect place to start exploring the Whitsundays.

If you are travelling with a dog, you won’t be able to take it to the islands. They are part of a national park which means it’s not allowed. This means that staying on Hamilton Island or any other island resort with a pet is not an option.

Fortunately, there are loads of options when it comes to pet-friendly accommodation in Airlie Beach.

In this article, you will find a selection of pet-friendly Airbnbs, hotels, caravan parks and Stayz in Airlie Beach.

Where to stay in Airlie Beach with a dog

Airlie Beach is a fairly small town. Everything is pretty close together which makes it easier when exploring with a dog.

As a general thing, the best place to stay in Airlie Beach is the town centre. This is still true with a dog, however, there aren’t any dog-friendly beaches right in the centre.

The next best areas to stay with a dog are near the dog-friendly beaches in Airlie Beach.

travelling with a dog

The only beach where you can take your dog off the leash in Airlie itself is Shingley Beach. It’s a beautiful beach, away from the crowds. It only takes 20 minutes on foot to get there from the town centre.

Finally, you can opt to stay in Cannonvale. Although it’s not located in Airlie Beach itself, it’s a great option for people travelling with a pet. There are loads of dog-friendly beaches and parks such as:

– Bicentennial Park, Cannonvale
– Cannonvale Beach (5am to 8am and 5pm to 8pm)
– Gailbraith Park, Cannonvale
– Whisper Bay Boat Ramp, Cannonvale

Cannonvale is also home to the Bicentennial walk, a must-do when visiting in Airlie Beach!

This area offers bigger and better houses for a smaller price which is why it’s often chosen by families.

Finally, you can opt for something near the airport. It’s a bit further away but it’s good for budget travellers.
