If you’ve always dreamt of cuddling a fluffy alpaca, this one is for you!
Located on the north side of Jacksonville, Shady Rest Alpacas is a small family-run farm that you can visit.
They offer several options including an hour-long tour where you feed and pet the alpacas, and a 30-minute version which is fence-side only.

🦙 What is it?
Shady Rest is a family-owned alpaca farm run by Trina.
They offer private visits during which you can meet the alpacas.
The main one is a private educational tour. It’s 1-hour long and will give you the opportunity to learn plenty about the alpacas and get up-close with the herd.
This includes feeding, petting and plenty of time for photos and questions. 🦙
Alpaca treats are included.
Please note that you book a whole tour rather than per person tickets.
The 30-minute option, which they call the Quick Fluff & Fix, is a fence-side visit. You meet and feed the alpacas and get your photos, but you don’t get as much hands-on experience. 📸
In the run-up to Christmas they also do Holiday Truck Photos. That’s a 15-minute session with a photographer using their 1953 International truck, followed by a meet and treat with the alpacas. 🎄
Finally, they organise events as well which includes corporate days, birthday parties and team buildings.

📅 How to visit: Reservations required, there’s no walk ins. You can book on the site or call them.
