What is the Weather Like at Disney World in December?

In December, the weather at Disney World (Orlando, Florida) is generally mild but can fluctuate.

Expect daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 23°C (59°F to 73°F), with cooler mornings and evenings dropping to around 10°C (50°F).

It’s the dry season so you shouldn’t get rain but that’s something you should always check the day before because

December is perfect for exploring the parks without the intense heat of summer, but you’ll want to pack layers to adjust as the temperature changes throughout the day.

Essential Packing List for Disney World in December

Clothing

  • Light Sweaters or Hoodies: These will keep you warm during the cool mornings and evenings, but are easy to remove once it warms up in the afternoon.
  • T-shirts and Long-Sleeve Tops: Bring a mix of both to layer underneath a sweater or jacket. T-shirts are great for sunny afternoons, while long sleeves will help during chillier hours.
  • Comfortable Pants or Jeans: Opt for comfortable jeans or leggings that allow flexibility for long hours of walking.

I absolutely LOVE these pants when I travel because they are incredibly comfortable and they look so good!

They have a very classy look and yet are more comfortable than pjs!

  • Shorts: If the weather forecast predicts warmer days, consider packing a pair of shorts. Keep in mind that evenings are usually quite cool so you will probably want to switch back to pants then but if you are visiting on a warm day (which can always happen in Florida in December), then shorts can come in handy.
  • Jacket: Since temperatures drop in the evening, taking a lightweight or medium-weight jacket is useful. Bear in mind that you’ll spend a lot of time outside and if you are watching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom you’ll have to stand for a while. Also, the boat ride to go back to the carpark can be chilly and windy.

As a general thing, I recommend packing a mix of layers and checking the weather forecast the day before.

You can take a backpack with you in the parks so the best option is to wear comfortable trousers or leggings, a short sleeve t-shirt, sweater and jacket and pack a pair of shorts in your backpack.

During the day, you might want to switch and put the shorts on and remove the top layers and put them in the backpack.

Footwear

  • Comfortable Walking Shoes: Disney World involves lots of walking, so comfortable sneakers or supportive shoes are a must. I recommend closed toe shoes because they are more adapted to walking and safer in general.
  • Socks: Opt for moisture-wicking socks to keep your feet dry and comfortable.

Accessories

  • Waterproof poncho: while December is the dry season in Florida, rain can happen so having a poncho is handy. But the reason why I also recommend it is that there are some rides that involve water. It’s not too much water but you could still end up being a bit wet so having the poncho will protect you and it doesn’t take much room in the backpack.
