November in Barcelona is mild, making it a great time to explore the city’s iconic attractions without the summer crowds. The weather is cooler but still comfortable for outdoor activities like walking around the Gothic Quarter and seeing the sights.

Barcelona is a city I’ve always loved and I use to visit all the time which means that I got to learn how to dress for every type of weather.

November in Barcelona feels more relaxed, and there’s still plenty of sunshine to enjoy. You’ll need a mix of light and warmer layers to adapt to the changing weather.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to pack for your November trip to Barcelona.

What is the Weather Like in Barcelona in November?

barcelona in november

Barcelona in November is generally mild, with temperatures ranging between 50°F to 65°F (10°C to 18°C)

It’s a pretty dry month which means you can expect some sunny days, but also sometimes overcast skies.

The evenings can get quite chilly though, especially as the month progresses.

Rain is possible, but not too frequent, with about 5-6 days of rain throughout the month.

Layers are key to staying comfortable, as the temperature can change throughout the day. It’s still warm enough during the day to walk around with just a jacket or sweater, but you’ll need something warmer in the evenings.

Essential Packing List for Barcelona in November

You can find below a packing list of all the things you should be packing for Barcelona. Please remember that this is a standard packing list I put together but you should adapt it to your own style.

Clothing

  • Jacket: A stylish leather jacket or a medium-weight coat is perfect for the mild daytime temperatures. It doesn’t need to be too warm because November in Barcelona is not that cold but it should still be a good autumn jacket.
  • Sweaters: Bring a few lightweight sweaters or cardigans for layering. These are perfect during the day when the sun is out and make for the perfect extra layer when the temperature dips in the evening.
  • Long-Sleeve Tops: Pack some long-sleeve shirts or blouses that you can easily layer under your jacket or sweater.
  • T-shirts: During the day, especially on sunny days, you might be comfortable in a simple T-shirt (always layered with the jacket or cardigan though)
  • Jeans & Trousers: Jeans or trousers are ideal for exploring the city. They are comfortable and versatile enough to dress up or down.
  • Dresses with light tights: A casual dress with light tights works well for the milder weather. You can pair it with a light jacket for a chic look.
  • Cardigans or Blazers: Bring a cardigan or a light blazer for a polished look and an extra layer of warmth.

Footwear

  • Comfortable Sneakers: You’ll be walking a lot on Barcelona’s cobblestone streets, so comfortable sneakers are a must. I recommend sneakers with a bit of thick sole (like platform sneakers) because they are more comfortable on the cobblestones compared to Converses or Vans.
  • Ankle Boots: Flat ankle boots are perfect for cooler days, and they’ll keep your feet warm in the evenings.
  • Loafers or Flats: On dry, warmer days, loafers or flats are stylish yet comfortable options for strolling through the city.

Bags

  • Suitcase or backpack: A lightweight suitcase or travel backpack is obviously necessary to pack. I personally prefer a backpack for Barcelona because the wheels are not great on cobblestones and I find it more practical to walk and carry a backpack than a suitcase.
  • Crossbody Bag or Backpack: A crossbody bag or small backpack is perfect for carrying your essentials while sightseeing. It’s more secure and keeps your hands free.
  • Money Belt: Barcelona is known for pickpockets in busy areas like Las Ramblas, so a money belt can keep your cash and ID secure.

Accessories

  • Umbrella: A small, foldable umbrella is great to have just in case of rain but since it doesn’t rain that much it’s not essential.
  • Light Scarf: A light scarf is always useful and can warm you up if it gets a bit chillier. Also, it comes in handy when you’re visiting churches.
  • Sunglasses: Even in November, Barcelona can have bright, sunny days, so don’t forget your sunglasses.

Electronics

  • Phone & Charger
  • Power Bank: A portable charger is handy for long days of sightseeing when your phone battery might run low.
  • Camera
  • Travel Adapter: Spain uses Type C and F plugs, so bring an adapter if you’re coming from outside Europe.

Paperwork

  • Passport
  • Travel Insurance Documents
  • Hotel Reservations & Itinerary
  • Bank Card + Credit Card: I also recommend getting a Revolut or Wise card to save on money exchange fees.

What to Wear in Barcelona in November Depending on the Weather

☀️ If it’s sunny ☀️

On sunny days, a long-sleeve top or T-shirt paired with jeans or light trousers will be perfect. Bring a light jacket for the mornings or evenings and comfortable sneakers for walking.

☁️ If it’s cloudy ☁️

A lightweight sweater or cardigan paired with jeans and ankle boots works great for cloudy days. Add a scarf for extra warmth.

🌧️ If it rains 🌧️

Wear a jacket and bring an umbrella. A warm sweater, jeans, and waterproof ankle boots will keep you dry and comfortable.

Things Not to Wear in Barcelona in November

  • Shorts: It’s too chilly for shorts this time of year.
  • High Heels: Unless you’re attending a formal event, leave your heels at home. Barcelona’s uneven streets and long walking distances are not heel-friendly.
  • Thin Summer Clothes: Save your summer dresses and light fabrics for warmer months.
  • Heavy Winter Gear: There’s no need for a bulky winter coat or snow boots in Barcelona’s mild November weather.

With this packing list and outfit ideas, you’ll be all set to enjoy your November trip to Barcelona, no matter what the weather brings. Let me know if you need more travel tips or suggestions!
