Turns out you don’t need to cross the Atlantic for pipe bands and caber tossing, there’s a full Highland games in Connecticut every October!
Held at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds up in the northeast corner of the state, the Scotland Connecticut Highland Festival & Games will take place on October 10th!
You get heavy athletics, Highland dancing, bagpipe and drum competitions, a Clan Village and stalls full of Scottish food and goods.
And the best part about it is that it’s run by a small team of volunteers and 2026 will be the 38th edition!
It’s about 40 minutes from Providence, an hour from Hartford and around 1 hour 25 from Boston.

🥁 What is it?
It’s a Scottish Highland festival.
The competitions are the heart of it. Highland heavy athletics, Highland dancing, and bagpipe and drum competitions all run through the day. 🏆
There’s a Clan Village where you can go and find your family name, plus harp and fiddle performances dotted around. 🎻
They also bring in animals of Scotland, and there are vendors selling Scottish food and Scottish and Celtic goods. 🐑
The day opens and closes with proper ceremonies, so it’s worth being there for the start. 🎺
📅 When: Saturday October 10th 2026, 9am to 5pm. Gates open at 9am and the opening ceremonies are at 10am

🅿️ Parking: On site, with plenty of space and no shuttle buses needed. There’s a small charge per vehicle which goes to the Mortlake Fire Department, and it’s cash only, so bring some with you
